Should you buy a mattress protector?

You may wonder if you really need a mattress protector or if the protector will prevent you from getting a good night's sleep. Let's start off by talking about why you should get a protector for your mattress.

As we all know, a mattress isn't something we can pick up and put in the washer. Thankfully, a mattress protector is and it helps protect your mattress from allergens like dust mites as well as stains.

If you don't use a mattress protector, you could end up with yellow stains caused by sweat. Stains are hard to get rid of. You'll also end up with dust mites living in your mattress because they feed on dead skin cells. By using a mattress protector, you can help your mattress look pristine and reduce allergens. Not only is this a matter of cleanliness, but it's also important for the warranty. Stains can void a mattress warranty.

As for comfort, our protectors are thin, they're not like hot, thick mattress pads that can take away from your mattress's comfort level. They will allow you to enjoy your mattress fully while providing protection.

We carry a few different protectors you can choose from. The Deluxe, Premium and Luxury all have a Gore-Tex membrane across the top, which is fully breathable but completely waterproof. The Deluxe is a polyester cover, the Premium has a cotton terry cover and the Luxury has a soft, breathable Eucalyptus fiber cover.

The AllerZip encasement protector zips the entire mattress up in Gore-Tex, so it's the only option with a barrier that prevents bed bugs, allergies and stains. Each of our mattress covers has a 10-year warranty, but only the Protect-A-Bed brand protectors will cover the mattress and its warranty; the BedTech warranty will only replace the protector. Our protectors have an 18-inch pocket and are fully elasticized. If you're concerned about it fitting snugly, we recommend our luxury protector which features four-way stretch fabric.
