All of these signs can point to a lack of quality sleep

Not getting enough sleep can affect so many things. In fact, if you're not getting the rest you need, you may experience symptoms beyond just feeling tired.

When you don't get the proper amount of z's your mind and body can suffer, plain and simple. Your appearance may be affected. Lack of sleep can influence acne outbreaks or cause bags to form under your eyes. You might even put on a few extra pounds. When you don't get enough sleep it can cause your body to want more food, typically the not-so-good food.

The way you feel can also be affected. You may find that you have a harder time remembering things. You may feel more irritable or down in the dumps. You may also struggle more to stay focused at work and get things done in a timely fashion.

Your mornings will probably be rougher too. You may struggle to get out of bed or to just get things done quickly before heading out the door. You may feel awful and have to rely on more caffeine to get you going.

There are several signs that you could be lacking the sleep your mind and body needs. If you notice that you're suffering a few of these symptoms, you may want to talk to your doctor about them and make a shift in your bedtime routine. Consider what could be causing you not to sleep well. Are you staying up too late? Are you playing on your phone or watching TV right before bed and the blue light is affecting your sleep? Is your bedroom too hot? Is your mattress uncomfortable? There could be several things affecting how well you sleep and it's important to identify those things so you can correct them. That way you can get more accomplished and feel your best.
